CASE Awarded NOAA Fisheries Contract Supporting Sustainable Aquaculture and Fish Nutrition Research
CASE Consultants has been awarded a new NOAA Fisheries contract vehicle to provide specialized fish nutrition science for the Northwest Fisheries Science Center’s Environmental and Fisheries Sciences Division.
CASE supports two complementary research priorities. The first examines whether dietary arachidonic acid can improve reproductive development and performance in sablefish broodstock. Our scientist will assist with fish husbandry and feeding, fish-health monitoring, biological sampling, laboratory analysis, statistical evaluation, and interpretation of nutritional and reproductive outcomes.
The second priority focuses on characterizing the nutritional composition of cultured seaweed obtained from producers across the West Coast and Alaska. CASE will support standardized analyses of protein, lipid, ash, and moisture content and help evaluate how seaweed may contribute to marine feeds and other sustainable aquaculture applications.
This work requires careful coordination of time-sensitive feeding, sampling, laboratory, data-analysis, and scientific-reporting activities. Deliverables will include annual research summaries, publication-quality tables and figures, conference materials, technical reports, and contributions to peer-reviewed publications.
