GIS Analyst – Marine Species + Conservation Planning
Location: Hybrid – Silver Spring, MD (preferred) or NMFS Regional Offices. Telework eligible per client approval
Type: Full-time
Overview: CASE is seeking a senior GIS Analyst to support marine species conservation, rulemaking, and recovery planning for NOAA Fisheries’ Office of Protected Resources (OPR).
You will work alongside federal scientists, technologists, attorneys, and policy leaders to develop model that help ensure marine mammals, sea turtles, and endangered species are protected through sound science and legally defensible analysis.
Key Responsibilities include:
Develop spatial analyses for ESA consultations
Support critical habitat designations
Analyze AIS vessel traffic data
Maintain sea turtle and marine mammal GIS databases
Develop spatial tools for stranding visualization
Produce publication-ready maps for Federal Register documents
Education, Knowledge, and Skills Required:
BS in GIS, geography, environmental science, or related field
2–3+ years GIS experience
Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro
Experience with spatial data analysis
Preferred Qualifications:
Marine species distribution modeling
Python or R for geospatial analysis
Experience supporting federal rulemaking
