Our team works alongside Federal researchers conducting fisheries surveys, marine mammal and sea turtle conservation, habitat mapping, artificial intelligence applications, coral restoration, genomics, and ecosystem science throughout the Gulf of America, Atlantic, and Caribbean.

Position Overview:

CASE Consultants International is seeking Marine Research Scientists to support NOAA Fisheries’ Southeast Fisheries Science Center (SEFSC) Population & Ecosystems Monitoring Division (PEMD).

Working alongside NOAA scientists, you’ll contribute to some of the nation’s largest fishery-independent reef fish surveys, collecting the scientific information used to assess fish populations, characterize marine habitats, and support sustainable fisheries management throughout the Gulf of America and Caribbean.

This is an exciting opportunity for marine biologists who enjoy balancing offshore fieldwork with laboratory analysis and applied fisheries science.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in NOAA reef fish surveys aboard research vessels and small boats

  • Deploy underwater video systems, CTDs, fish traps, and other scientific equipment

  • Conduct biological and environmental sampling under standardized NOAA protocols

  • Identify reef fishes and associated marine organisms from underwater imagery

  • Perform video annotation, biological QA/QC, and scientific data validation

  • Manage biological datasets and contribute to standardized databases

  • Assist with habitat characterization and ecological assessments

  • Prepare technical reports, scientific figures, and presentations

  • Participate in public outreach and scientific meetings

Required Qualifications

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Marine Biology, Fisheries Science, Ecology, Oceanography, or related discipline

  • Experience with fisheries field surveys or marine ecological research

  • Fish identification skills

  • Comfortable working aboard research vessels for extended periods

  • Experience with GIS, R, SQL, or scientific databases is a plus
