CASE Consultants International is building a team of talented scientists, engineers, and technical professionals to support NOAA Fisheries’ Southeast Fisheries Science Center. Our team works alongside Federal researchers conducting fisheries surveys, marine mammal and sea turtle conservation, habitat mapping, artificial intelligence applications, coral restoration, genomics, and ecosystem science throughout the Gulf of America, Atlantic, and Caribbean.

Position Overview:

CASE is seeking innovative Marine Data Scientists to support SEFSC scientists developing next-generation analytical tools for fisheries science, habitat mapping, and ecosystem monitoring.

Working with large biological, environmental, acoustic, imagery, and geospatial datasets, you’ll help transform raw scientific observations into reproducible products that directly support fisheries stock assessments, habitat restoration, and ecosystem-based management.

Candidates with experience in underwater imagery, fisheries analytics, quantitative ecology, or AI-assisted ecological monitoring are especially encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze fisheries, habitat, and ecological datasets

  • Develop reproducible analytical workflows in R and Python

  • Support AI-assisted image annotation and machine learning applications

  • Process underwater imagery collected from ROVs, AUVs, and towed camera systems

  • Develop GIS products supporting habitat characterization

  • Perform statistical analyses and ecological modeling

  • Manage cloud-based scientific datasets and metadata

  • Collaborate with NOAA scientists on technical reports and peer-reviewed publications

Required Qualifications

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Marine Biology, Fisheries Science, Ecology, Oceanography, or related discipline

  • Experience with fisheries field surveys or marine ecological research

  • Fish identification skills

  • Comfortable working aboard research vessels for extended periods

  • Experience with GIS, R, SQL, or scientific databases is a plus
