Scientific Data Analyst/Fisheries Information Specialist

Position Overview:
CASE is seeking a Scientific Data Analyst to support NOAA Fisheries’ Fish Ecology Division by developing, managing, and modernizing scientific information systems supporting fisheries research and ecosystem science.
This position focuses on improving scientific data accessibility, reproducibility, and long-term stewardship while supporting collaborative research across NOAA.
Key Responsibilities
Manage biological and environmental datasets.
Develop reproducible data processing pipelines.
Support scientific software development and workflow automation.
Develop GIS products and interactive visualizations.
Maintain metadata and documentation.
Support COMPASS information management.
Develop GitHub-managed workflows and version-controlled analytical products.
Collaborate with fisheries scientists, ecologists, and software developers.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, GIS, Marine Science, Fisheries, Environmental Science, or related field.
Experience with SQL, R, Python, or similar languages.
Experience managing scientific datasets.
Strong written communication skills.
Proficiency in:
R and/or Python.
ArcGIS Pro or QGIS.
GitHub and version control.
COMPASS.
Scientific software development.
Fisheries or ecological datasets.
Cloud computing.
Automated QA/QC.
Publication record preferred.
